This October 12, script.aculo.us has released their script.aculo.us 1.8 preview version that will pave the way for their script.aculo.us 2.0

Some of the revisions as per their website are:

• Prototype 1.6 (latest trunk version)
• Complete rewrite of Ajax.InPlaceEditor and Ajax.InPlaceCollectionEditor
• Full CSS inheritance in Effect.Morph
• New core effect: Effect.Tween
• Sound: play mp3 files for sound effects; uses native playback on IE and available plugins wherever possible
• Performance improvements
• Tons of bugfixes

The scriptaculous website has been an integral support for web 2.0 developers like me especially those who are into AJAX technology and other dynamic web page development.

Hefty JavaScript is reduced by imploring their prototype.js file and page rendering has never been the same old and boring stuff with scriptaculous.

Script.aculo.us 2.0 will surely be a blast, but until its release, we have the 1.8 preview to tinker with.
