They say that a picture paints a thousand words, but would you believe that a word is worth 10 grains of rice?

According to United Nations, about 25,000 people die every day of hunger or hunger related causes and statistics just keeps getting bigger and bigger everyday as food scarcity becomes a household commonality in some of countries.

What if you could make a difference just by playing a game that would increase your vocabulary as well as feed the poverty stricken homes in another part of the world?

This is what Free Rice is – a simple yet compassionate online game that aims to increase your vocabulary and feed the hungry in every correct answer that you provide.

The game will provide a word and will list four choices from which you would choose which of the four is the word’s synonym. Every correct answer will give you the ability to donate 10 grains of rice to United Nations World Food Program. The more correct answers, the more grains of rice you can donate.

The rice is paid for by the advertisers shown at the bottom of the question page.

How many grains of rice are there in a kilo you would ask? The answer is around 50,000 grains of rice.

So, if you just want to kill some time doing some boring internet game, then I suggest that you do it in a more meaningful way by playing this game.
