We’re always acquainted with “holographs” wherein a 3 dimensional image is projected to replicate an actual object. But have you heard of “holophony”?

Holophony or holophonic recording is a way of integrating 3 dimensional concepts in sound and audio recording.

This is achieved by recording sound using two adjacent microphones that would simulate the ears of the actual person. The end result is a 3 dimensional auditory illusion.

Try listening to the sound clips using a headset then close your eyes. Remember that for these clips to efficiently work, a headset is strongly suggested. You would distinctively hear the transfer of the sound from left to right and vice-versa as if you were actually right in the middle of it.
